SICMA Work Packages Objectives
WP1 – Management
Activities of WP1 are equally spread along the duration of the project, through constant monitoring of the performed activities, periodic check with work packages leaders, project progress reports, meetings and milestones. Management work package includes also project assessment, i.e. the periodic check of project progress and evolution in line with the foreseen development in terms of both time-frame and financial constraints. Another activity included in management is the constant check of project results against the progress in medical procedures and of the market concerning systems and products related to those used/developed in our solutions.
WP2 – Coordination
WP2 gathers the coordination activities (regarding technical and scientific aspects and coordination of end-users) required for the achievement of the objectives.
WP3 – Decision Support System
WP3 gathers all the activities related to the whole decision support system. A strong involvement of the end-users will allow to gather the user requirements which, once analysed by all of the partners, will lead to the definition of the system and sub-system requirements. The system design activity and the design and implementation of the Integration Infrastructure will close the first set of activities in this WP. Once all the components are implemented and tested (as a result of the activities carried out in WP 4, WP5 and WP 6) the second set of activities covered by this WP will start. These activities will consist of the integration of all the components and the system testing aiming at verifying that the developed system has the functionalities and performances described in the system specification. Being the decision support system heavily based on Modelling and Simulation, the FEDEP (Federation Development and Execution Process) development model to build HLA (High Level Architecture) simulation will be used as reference to drive the development process.
WP4 – Health Service Models
The purpose of these activities is to carry out the design, implementation and test of all the Health Services models identified in the top-level design. This may require completely new models to be produced or existing ones to be modified. The models will be implemented through HLA simulators developed according to state-of-the-art Federation Development and Execution Process (FEDEP) to grant future reuse of each component and interoperability with future models.
WP5 – Context Models
WP5 will include the design, implementation and test of models serving as the basic layer of the FP7 Simulation of Crisis Management Activities. The context models layer generates the data for a rich scenario in which decision makers and responders can evaluate their response to the simulated crisis events. The models to be developed are based on Elbit simulation infrastructure which includes Elbit Simulation Engine ("SimEng") controlling the simulator different components. The context models component is based mainly on the VR-Forces (MAK) framework, extending the framework and adding significant capabilities to it. Models are developed over Windows OS and coded in c++ and can be distributed over HLA/DIS using VR-Link (MAK) toolkit.
WP6 – Tools
The objective is to design, implement and test the GUI, distribution analyzer and procedural support system that will be used in the SICMA system.
WP7 – Trials and Validation
The technological solutions, integrated into an operational prototype system, will be evaluated against the end-user requirements/expectations with a selected realistic scenario in an experimental trial with stakeholder/end-user involvement. Conclusions will be drawn addressing potential of the technologies, M&S and decision support tools and methodologies, recommended future improvements and utilisation.
WP8 – Dissemination and Exploitation
This work package has four main objectives: organisation of meetings with external stakeholders; publication of scientific papers and articles in the general press for the diffusion of the project’s ideas and results; production and maintenance of a project Web site; produce and maintain a complete Exploitation Plan for the project. The organization of the Final Conference, foreseen at the end of the project, is also part of this work package.
